The shopping in Winter Garden FL is terrific. Shopping locations are almost always within a 5 minute drive from any residence and so are many types of service providers depending on demand for their service. Most of the major chains like Walmart etc. also have locations within the city.
Winter Garden FL is almost like the tail of two cities. The southern portion is mostly independent and rapidly becoming one of Florida's best destinations. First lets discuss the shopping in the more traditional but modernizing Winter Garden FL which is north of Marsh Road and the boundary.
The shopping in Winter Garden FL will mostly be in three areas. The Winter Garden Village, on Colonial Drive and in the downtown Winter Garden area. The downtown portion is the trendiest and nicest place for residents to go and be part of the city. There is much more that is interesting there but we will cover it later.
The Winter Garden Village is nearly 100 acres of combined shopping, dining and services to be used at your leisure. The Winter Garden Village is similar to a strip mall in many ways and has a lot of surprising national chains to be found here. Lowest, a Target Supercenter, LA Fitness and some great places to eat are the first which come to my mind.
You will find the Grove on the northern side of the local turnpike along Daniels' Road. I guarantee most if not all residents of this city will be visiting the Winter Garden Village for years to come. Expect a 20 minute drive from this part of the turnpike to Disney, Universal and Downtown Orlando FL.
Colonial Drive was built over 100 years ago. Obviously it pretty much started off as a trail but it connected Winter Garden to Orlando as a trade route. Today the tradition continues and some who are much more patient even use it to commute to and from those destinations. Be patient if you try to do this.
Along Colonial Dr there are seemingly countless strip malls, shops, service providers and gas stations. Many of the fast food chains are also present within the city. As you approach Orlando you will pass through Ocoee FL on Colonial Drive. It is in Ocoee where you will find the Orlando Health Hospital, closest Home Depot and the West Oaks Mall. We recommend the hospital there but stick local with Lowes and avoid the West Oaks Mall.
One of the most overlooked one stop shop locations is on what is Main St in downtown Winter Garden. Of course the weekly farmers market is a must see but there is so much more. All it will take is a Saturday evening stroll along Plant Street to see exactly what I mean.
Restaurants in Downtown Winter Garden
Golf Cart friendly downtown Winter Garden will be at it best in the evening. Small shops have the best shopping and there are certainly many here. Cute shops and the Farmers Market will catch your eye and the smells of the many restaurants in downtown Winter Garden will have you wanting to return time and time again. There is no finer shopping or dining in the Orlando area.
Horizon West is the place of preference for many Winter Garden FL residents. The northern boundary is pretty much Marsh Road and Stoneybrook West Village then nearly all of the way south to just north of US-192. Walt Disney World and Windermere are the eastern boundary. Where we use to say soon to come, we now say look over there when it comes to many shopping areas. The amount of places to go and the best shopping will be growing for decades.
The Hamlin Town Center and shopping center is where you will find most attractions as of today. The Hamlin area has access to the local turnpike which is called the 429 or Daniel Webster Western Beltway. Trust me, it is a god send when it comes to commuting other than locally.
The first Walmart Supercenter, Public Supermarket, Movie Theater and Starbucks built are located here. So are many restaurants and a Orlando Health Hospital is 2 miles south of the Town Center. Now countless other smaller shopping centers are showing up everywhere as new communities and potential customers were promised when they first arrived.
As the population increases so will the quality and availability of new stores. Expect population growth for at least 20 years. Things are getting even better, and you will not be disappointed with the shopping in Winter Garden FL.
