There are only a handful of gated communities in Horizon West. The local authorities very seldom approve them no matter how nice the neighborhood will be when finished. So, the homes you will find in the gated neighborhoods will often be a little older with few exceptions. There are a few newer homes in the isles of Lake Hancock and in the gated area or Waterside. I also included a Del Webb community although it is a little south of the actual Horizon West border.
Although outside the northern border of what is actually considered Horizon West they are just across the street. Both of these are great options if the school zone is acceptable. The amenities are fantastic and most would be proud to own one of the nicer homes in these neighborhoods. For those wondering yes, some of the homes in these two neighborhoods are lakefront homes as well.
In the northern part of Horizon West are these three communities. Of these the newest homes will be found in Tilde Place but they are so new they seldom come on the market. Carriage Pointe and Belle Meade were tow of the first communities build in this part of Winter Garden. Neither have much for amenities other than small parks but both are fairly quiet inside.
This is a small gated community nestled onto the shore of Lake Hancock and hidden deep behind Summerlake. You will need to put effort into finding it but it is certainly a jewel. Private ponds for water skiing, tennis courts, playground and yes amazing waterfront homes and neighbors. Once again, the challenge is catching one for sale.
Oasis Cove is near Disney University across from Windermere Isle. This gated community has only townhomes and they are somewhat older than most in Horizon West. A lot of these townhomes are owned by investors as they will always be prime for Disney Employees and those who love the park.
